A sleeve's advertised screen size is a starting point, but the tablet does not travel as a diagonal measurement. Its case, keyboard cover and attached pen can change the shape that must fit inside. Measure the complete arrangement you plan to carry before comparing internal dimensions.

Check the opening as well as the main compartment. A zipper seam, rounded corner or padded edge can make insertion tighter than the stated width suggests. If the seller gives only external dimensions, ask for the usable interior size rather than estimating from a photograph.

Decide what travels in the same space

A tablet alone has different storage needs from a tablet with a pen, cable and charger. Keep rigid accessories from pressing against the screen. A separate pocket can help, but inspect whether its contents still create a lump against the device when the sleeve is closed.

If the pen attaches magnetically to the tablet, decide whether it stays there during travel. Check the sleeve's intended arrangement instead of relying on the magnet to retain the pen through a tight opening. A dedicated holder may be preferable if it fits the actual pen and does not interfere with removal.

Match the sleeve to the bag

Consider how you will take it out. A top opening can be convenient in one backpack, while a full opening may require more room on a table. Try the routine with the bag loaded, because an empty bag can make an awkward sleeve seem easy to reach.

Read the material and protection claims carefully. Padding, water resistance and drop protection are different claims, and none should be inferred solely from a thick appearance. Use the maker's stated limits and keep the device away from conditions the sleeve is not designed to address.

During the return period, insert and remove the tablet several times using ordinary handling. The closure should work without pressure on the device or a connector. If you regularly have to remove the case to make the sleeve fit, decide whether that extra step makes sense for the way you travel.

Keep the interior free of loose debris and follow the sleeve's care instructions. The right fit leaves the tablet protected and accessible, with no need to force the zipper or search the bottom of a bag for the pen that slipped away.
