Replacement earbud tips need to fit both the earbud and the person wearing it. Begin with the exact model and generation. A tip that looks similar in a photograph may use a different attachment, length or internal opening, so choose from a documented compatibility list rather than estimating from diameter alone.

Check how the original tip is removed and attached. Some designs stretch over a nozzle; others use a model-specific fitting. Follow the instructions instead of twisting or pulling on the earbud housing. After installation, confirm the tip is securely attached before use.

Treat left and right separately

The size that feels suitable on one side may not be the same on the other. Use the supplied sizes and the manufacturer's fitting method, and stop if the fit causes discomfort. Choosing the largest tip to force a seal is not a substitute for finding an appropriate shape and position.

Apple's AirPods Pro guidance includes model-specific fit or seal tests and distinguishes compatible tips by generation. If your earbuds offer a software test, use the instructions for that model. Treat the result as information about the tested fit, not a reason to ignore discomfort or an insecure attachment.

Check the case as well as your ears

A replacement tip can change how the earbuds sit in their charging case. Confirm that the case closes normally and that the earbuds seat on their contacts as intended. Do not press the lid down against resistance or assume an apparent fit means charging has begun.

Read the cleaning and replacement instructions for the tip material. Foam and silicone accessories may have different maintenance requirements, and a method suitable for one should not automatically be used on another. Keep spare tips clean in a small container rather than loose in a pocket with dust and keys.

Evaluate ordinary movement

Try a short, normal listening session and the movements you usually make while seated or walking in a suitable environment. Notice whether the earbuds need constant readjustment. Check pause and other touch controls without pushing the earbud farther in each time.

If no supplied or compatible option gives a comfortable, secure result, another earbud shape may suit you better. Tips can adjust fit within the design's limits, but they cannot guarantee that every earbud body will work for every person.
